VAT Relief

Some products sold at Cantre Mobility are eligible for VAT exemption, provided that the person buying the goods also qualifies for VAT exemption. Please click on the following subheadings for more information.

Who qualifies for VAT relief?

If you, the customer are disabled or have a chronic illness, you will not pay VAT on products designed or adapted for your own personal or domestic use. Moreover, you will not pay VAT on:
  • the installation and any extra work needed as part of this
  • repairs or maintenance
  • spare parts or accessories

Both the product and your disability have to qualify according to government outlines:

“For VAT purposes, you’re disabled or have a long-term illness if:

  •  you have a physical or mental impairment that affects your ability to carry out everyday activities, e.g. blindness
  •  you have a condition that’s treated as chronic sickness, like diabetes
  •  you’re terminally ill

You don’t qualify if you’re elderly but able-bodied, or if you’re temporarily disabled.

You’ll need to confirm in writing that you meet these conditions.” (GOV.UK: 2015).

Please note: it is an offence to make a false declaration.

Qualifying products or services

Products designed or adapted for a disability qualify. All prices shown do not include VAT. If the person and/or item does not qualify for VAT exemption, VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added at checkout.

What do I do to claim VAT relief?

If you qualify for VAT relief as outlined above, you will need to confirm this by entering your qualifying disability or chronic medical condition when prompted at checkout.
